Privacy Policy for Apple Applications

Introduction

We at Jetico Inc. Oy (“we“, “our“, “us“) respect your privacy and will safeguard it by complying with this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”).

• We do not share nor sell any of your data.
• We do not read your data.
• We have no backdoors.

In this Privacy Policy we describe what kind of personal / non-personal information we may collect from you in connection with your use of our mobile and desktop application BestCrypt Explorer for Apple iOS and macOS (hereinafter “Application“) and our practices for collecting, using, managing, protecting and disclosing such data.

For other aspects regarding the processing of your personal data, please see our general privacy policy available at privacy-policy, which applies to all of our services.

By using our Application, you agree to the processing of your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy and the practices described herein, please do not download, access and / or use the Application.

This Privacy Policy is limited to data collected by us in relation to your use of the Application. The Application lets you connect, at your own initiative, to third-party services (such as Apple iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Box, Yandex Disk and SMB network shares). We are not responsible for the actions of those third parties, the content of their services, the data you provide to them, or any products or services they may offer; each such service is governed by its own privacy policy.

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a new version online, so please review it frequently. Your continued use of the Application after the posting of a new version is deemed as your acceptance of the modified terms.

We do not intentionally collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us so we can remove it.

What Personal Information Is Collected & Processed?

• Information you provide to us
  We collect the content and other personal information you provide when you contact Jetico. Accordingly, we collect your email address, phone number, name and message content for the purpose of further correspondence, when you send Jetico requests for technical support or other messages.
• Diagnostics from Apple
  When you obtain the Application from the Apple App Store and have enabled the relevant sharing on your device, Apple may provide us with aggregated and/or anonymized diagnostic information — such as crash reports, performance data and usage statistics — through Apple App Store Connect and TestFlight. We use this information solely to identify and fix problems and to improve the quality of the Application.

Data that never reaches us. The Application is designed so that the following data stays under your control and is not collected by, transmitted to, or accessible by Jetico:

• Your files and their contents and metadata. File operations to and from cloud services or SMB shares occur directly between your device and the service you chose, over encrypted connections (HTTPS / SMB). Jetico operates no intermediary server and never receives your files or file listings.
• Encrypted-container passwords. Passwords you enter to create or open BestCrypt containers are held only in memory for the duration of the operation. They are never written to persistent storage and never transmitted off the device.
• Cloud service access tokens and SMB credentials. When you sign in to a cloud provider (via that provider’s OAuth) or save SMB share credentials, those secrets are stored only in the device’s system Keychain on your device. They are not sent to Jetico.

How Your Personal Information Is Used?

We will use the personal information you provide to us to:

• Provide you with services and customer / technical support;
• Respond to your requests, resolve disputes and/or troubleshoot problems;
• Improve the quality of the Application;
• Communicate with you about the Application; and
• Occasionally send offers and information about our products to your email, where you have agreed to receive them.

We may also use your personal information to create anonymous information records by excluding information that makes the information personally identifiable to you.

We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, we do not use your data for advertising, and the Application contains no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs. The Application does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you.

Sharing Information

Jetico does not sell, rent or lease the collected information or any part of it to any third party. Your suggestions concerning improvements of Jetico products may be discussed with other Jetico customers in personal correspondence or in open forums without revealing your identity. We may decide to express publicly our gratitude to you only after receiving your permission.

Jetico may occasionally, after being authorized directly by you, share your contact information with our business partners who act on our behalf, or publish your identity and other agreed information as a business reference.

When you choose to connect a third-party cloud service or SMB share, the data required for that operation (for example, the files you transfer and the associated account identifier) is exchanged directly between your device and that service at your request. This is not a disclosure by Jetico; the service’s own privacy policy governs that data.

How Do We Protect & Safeguard Your Information?

We at Jetico take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or against loss, misuse or alteration by third parties. Inside Jetico, your personal information can be accessed only by designated officials and employees with a user ID and a password, and by contractors responsible for technical aspects.

Although we make good-faith efforts to store the information collected in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices (including EEA/UK – GDPR)

The data controller is Jetico Inc. Oy, Finland. Personal data is processed in accordance with Finnish legislation and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Where the GDPR applies, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request rectification or erasure; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. You may also withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

You can exercise any of these rights, or ask what personal information is stored about you, by contacting us at sales@jetico.com. You will receive a reply within 15 working days. If you no longer wish to receive a particular newsletter or promotional communication, you may opt out using the instructions in each communication.

You can revoke the Application’s access to a connected service at any time by disconnecting that account in the Application, and/or by revoking the Application in the third-party provider’s own account settings. Uninstalling the Application removes locally stored credentials and tokens from your device.

How Long Is Personal Information Kept?

The personal information you provide to us (support correspondence) is stored only as long as necessary to provide the service, or until you ask us to delete it. We do not maintain any unnecessary personal data about you. Files, container passwords, cloud tokens and SMB credentials are not retained by Jetico because we never receive them; locally stored credentials remain on your device until you disconnect the account or uninstall the Application.

Additional Information

The Application can be uninstalled at any time.
