Jetico DoD Wipe Software to Securely Erase SSD Now in Less Time with NVMe
BCWipe Total WipeOut Stays Ahead with Latest Technologies to Wipe Hard Drive Data and SSD
HELSINKI, Finland – December 14, 2016 – Jetico, leading-edge developer of DoD wipe software, announced today version 3.5 of BCWipe Total WipeOut. Jetico’s long-trusted solution to wipe hard drive data can now securely erase SSD in less time by delivering support for Non-Volatile Memory Express, more commonly known as NVMe, working with native commands such as User Data Erase and Cryptographic Erase.
"While similar wiping solutions can only detect and overwrite NVMe drives, Jetico stays ahead of the pack by supporting native commands," explains Jetico CEO, Michael Waksman. "SSD has made great strides over the past few years, surpassing many capabilities of traditional hard drives. To match this growth, Jetico has been working more closely with the storage industry. The added support for NVMe native commands demonstrates once again how BCWipe Total WipeOut best adapts to the latest innovations and evolving demands of our users."
NVMe is a new logical device interface specification for SSDs. Compared to SATA and SAS, this new protocol brings two key benefits: lower data latency and increased performance. By implementing native firmware command execution for NVMe, BCWipe Total WipeOut users can benefit from the drive read/write speed to securely erase SSD in less time.
"Because of its unique benefits, we expect NVMe to become the de-facto standard protocol for SSD," continues Waksman. "Already now, many new devices come with NVMe. By relying on our solution, users can continue to experience the enhanced security benefits of BCWipe Total WipeOut while also taking advantage of using the best technology on the market."
Version 3.5 also automatically unfreezes drives before using the native firmware command ATA Secure Erase. Automating this process results in more reliable erasure of SSDs, plus a better user experience, eliminating the need to manually access the BIOS and unfreeze the drives.
Trusted for over 10 years by the U.S. Department of Defense, BCWipe Total WipeOut can wipe hard drive data beyond forensic recovery, which is now validated by ADISA.
The official certificate can be found here.
BCWipe Total WipeOut continues to offer:
- Support for TRIM on SSD without risking degradation
- Central management to wipe multiple computers simultaneously
- Centralized reporting according to NIST recommendations
