BCWipe Total WipeOut by Jetico Erases Hard Drives with Hotplug and TRIM
HELSINKI, Finland - September 13, 2012 - Jetico, leading-edge developer of DoD wipe software, has announced a helpful update to BCWipe Total WipeOut. Thanks to the added support for hotplug and TRIM - a new command for SSD, Jetico's solution to completely erase hard drive data is now designed to be more convenient and to deliver better performance.
To clarify the usefulness of Jetico's latest update, CEO Michael Waksman explains, "By adding hotplug support, BCWipe Total WipeOut can turn your own computer into a digital shredder - a docking station ready for whenever you need to permanently delete all contents from a disk. Customers with stacks of hard drives to erase will surely appreciate the reduced labor, added time savings and ease of use in BCWipe Total WipeOut."
Now instead of requiring a reboot to start the wiping process, just connect drives via hotplug - typically a simple USB or eSATA connection. Your system is automatically alerted like when plugging in your camera to import pictures. Jetico's world-class security software then takes care of erasing everything for you.
Mr. Waksman also states, "The updated support for TRIM in BCWipe Total WipeOut means that after wiping an SSD, the disk performance remains as good as new."
Version 2.6 of BCWipe Total WipeOut offers the following added features and benefits:
- Support for Hotplug - While the previous version of BCWipe Total WipeOut detected disks only during startup, version 2.6 is now smart enough to carefully monitor device arrival events. Once the system with BCWipe Total WipeOut boot media has been created, hotplug support enables users to easily plug in drives and wipe them automatically according to a preconfigured scheme, without needing to reboot. Manual disk rescan is still available for hardware that does not support hotplug notifications.
- Support for TRIM - SSD devices are now ensured to maintain the same performance as before the wiping process. By supporting TRIM, users of BCWipe Total WipeOut can avoid the degradation concerns that would have otherwise reduced SSD performance by about 30 percent.
Mr. Waksman adds, "Anyone concerned about private data stored on their devices needs to be careful when disposing computers, decommissioning hard drives or repurposing laptops. You must be confident that all sensitive data has been erased without any chance of recovery."
BCWipe Total WipeOut is run from a bootable disk to wipe hard drive data entirely, including boot records, filesystem structures, operating system files and all data sectors and service areas of the drives like Host Protected Area (HPA) and Device Configuration Overlay (DCO).
BCWipe Total WipeOut enables users to conduct a DoD wipe according to U.S. Department of Defense recommendations to destroy data (DoD 5220.22-M), as well as other wiping schemes, or customize your own.
