BCWipe Search helps you locate sensitive information, forgotten documents, and unwanted copies of files on your computer. You can search by file contents, file properties, or a combination of both.

Search Capabilities

    • Find Files by Their Contents

      Find documents containing names, account numbers, phrases, or other information you are looking for, even when you do not know their file names or locations. You can also search using predefined lists of terms related to a particular topic.

    • Find Files by Name, Location, or Other Properties

      Find files based on their names, locations, types, sizes, or dates. You can also locate identical copies of a file or documents with similar contents.

    • AI-Assisted Search (Coming in Beta Update 2)

      AI-assisted search will introduce additional ways to discover information that is difficult to find using conventional search criteria. AI processing will run locally, keeping your files and their contents on your computer.

      • Find information inside images. Recognize text in scanned documents, photographs, and other images, so sensitive information stored outside ordinary text documents can also be found.
      • Find documents using examples. Provide a group of sample documents representing the information you want to find. AI will analyze their common characteristics and use them to identify other relevant files on your computer, even when they do not contain the same words or follow the same structure.

These capabilities will help you find sensitive information without having to know the exact keywords, file names, or patterns in advance.

Working with Search Results

Review matching files and their locations, then securely erase the files you no longer need using BCWipe. You can also revisit previous search results or repeat searches using the search history.
